*Animal/Earth Related Campaigns

http://www.cannedlion.co.za/index.html Lions and other animals are bred in captivity simply to act as living targets for so called 'hunters,' who pay large fees to shoot a "trophy". Help stop this horrific form of entertainment sport. If sanctuaries are not established in South Africa in the very near future we will see a vast number of lions and other cats being euthenased because there is no place for them to go. It is our duty as animal welfarists to do what we can to try to save at least some of these unfortunate animals and give them an opportunity to live their lives out in dignity. For more information contact Chris or Bev chrisandbev@mweb.co.za and find out more about their Campaign Against Canned Hunting. Sign their petition to ban trophy hunting in South Africa at: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/160781929

http://www.bigcatrescue.org/Big Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit "educational sanctuary" which takes care of Big Cats and educates the public in hopes to eliminate the abuse and abandonment that causes them to need a sanctuary. Their overall vision is to help create a world where the animals we share it with are treated with respect and caring and where habitat is preserved to insure the indefinite future survival of these wonderful gifts of nature. In creating such a world, we hope the same principles of respect and caring will carry over to the way humans treat each other.

http://www.tribeofheart.org Tribe of the Heart is a site which is focused on empowering people who care, assisting in creating a compassionate future, honoring tradition, nurturing this earth, and promoting the right ideas for our times. Jenny Stein & James LaVeck Founders of "Tribe of Heart" want to promote awareness of the inherent dignity and value of all beings, and allow each of us to bring deeper meaning and greater joy into our own lives. They have taken a bold step to create films like: Peaceable Kingdom, which highlights the public's concern about the health and environmental problems associated with large-scale factory farming. This film explores another angle of this unfolding story: the interconnected life journeys of farm animals, former farmers, and animal rescuers struggling against an "out of control" industrial system. Breaking generations of silence in the farm community, Peaceable Kingdom weaves together themes of respect, forgiveness, commitment, and healing, offering a vision of a more peaceful world that is well within our reach. This film is extremely moving, and I challenge you to purchase it. The movie preview on their site made me break down in tears with emotions I felt were like no others. I guarantee you, it will change the way you look at a grocery store forever.

Nick Whitmire and Brian Whitmire: Animators, artists, illustrators, and animal lovers. What a talented two! I met Nick and Brian when they were in their early teens. Their talents were in blossom early as they both; (exposed to the arts from their amazing mother Fran Welch), were allowed and encouraged to explore their personal journey's on paper, rocks, canvas, clay, you name it. They have now hit it BIG in Los Angeles where they work at Blur Studios. They have worked on pieces such as BioShock 2, Warhammer (The Age of Reckoning), and so many others. Check out their amazing work. I am also so drawn to their soulful nature (despite their some times dark illustrations), as they have both always relished and been so caring and kind to the four legged furry ones on this planet. As animal lovers, they find time to work and raise funds for the local animal shelters. They are truly talented and amazing (and handsome) young men. I am so grateful to know them. If only I were 20 years younger!

As a support to parents, teachers, and home educators, we will list on this website environmentally supportive curriculums, activities, recommended books, videos, magazines, articles, organizations, websites, and other earth-friendly resources. As a support to parents, teachers, and home educators, we will list on this website racially-diverse curriculums, activities, books, videos, magazines, articles, organizations, websites, and other people-friendly resources. And finally, Compassionate Kids learn about respect for ALL living creatures; that all living beings exist for their own reasons, not for our benefit as a superior species. They learn the proper care of animals, including steps to help endangered animals, as well as animals in entertainment, laboratories, and factory farms.

http://www.leonardpeltier.net/images/galery/prints.htm You may find the name of Leonard Peltier familiar and remember him as the man who has been in prison for over 30 years following the 1975 deaths of FBI agents during a standoff with Native American activists on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. A participant in the American Indian Movement, he went to assist the Oglala Lakota people on the Pine Ridge Reservation on June 26th, and the following year, was apprehended in Canada and accused of the murder of two agents. The FBI presented the Canadian court with fraudulent affidavits, and Peltier was returned to the U.S. for trial. Leonard Peltier -- a great-grandfather, artist, writer, & indigenous rights activist -- and a citizen of the Anishinabe and Dakota/Lakota Nations, has to me become one of the most remarkable representation of unjust treatment of any person in history. His case has become a touchstone for issues of native rights and criminal justice. Although limited by the prison environment, Mr. Peltier has emerged as a master of Indigenous Art. Leonard’s artwork reflects his beliefs and commitment to Native American culture. It is The People’s struggle to survive and his desire to portray their cultural beauty that inspires Peltier to paint.
